Camp Inclusion Support / Consultation

Welcome to our Camper Support Journey!

We believe that every Jewish child deserves a rich and meaningful Jewish camp experience. At Sha’arim + Gateways, we’re here to help make that a reality!

Sha’arim + Gateways partners with Twin Cities Jewish summer camps to provide support for campers in need of additional support. Our goal is to make our services as accessible to as many campers as possible. There are a few ways to access Sha’arim services for your child or camper. Take a look at our camper support journey to find the access point that is right for you:

Here’s how you can access our services for your child:

Step 1: Getting Started

  • Parents can share student needs with their summer prior to the start of the summer, or as they become aware of it throughout the summer. If you’re not sure if your camp of choice is a Sha’arim partner, you can check our partner page here, or reach out to us directly here.
  • Our partner camps may be able to identify areas of need or support as campers spend more time with them. If your child’s campl believes they could benefit from our support, they’ll get in touch with you to start the process.

Step 2: Choosing Support

  • Social/Behavioral – Sha’arim will help develop a plan to help your camper have a successful social experience in their camp setting.
  • 1:1 – Some campers need a little extra time in the day to take a break or share their thoughts. Shaarim support can help create a schedule that works best for your child.
  • Program infrastructure support – Program directors, Speciality leaders, Counselors, assistants, and advocates all have the chance to benefit from Sha’arim training and consultation that help them create the best camp environment for learners of all kinds!
  • We will meet as a team, including parents and camp representatives, to decide which type of support would work best for your child.

Step 3: Implementing Support

  • Meet with camp administrators and our specialists to discuss your child’s needs and create a support plan tailored to them.
  • Fill out a registration form to allow us to provide support.
  • We’ll keep you updated on your child’s progress and any changes to the plan.

Step 4: Staying Connected

  • Your Camp representative will receive regular updates on your child’s progress from their Sha’arim specialist.
  • If there is ever a need to change your child’s support plan, we will meet to discuss how best to support them.
  • You can ask your camp program administrator to put you in touch with their Sha’arim specialist.

We’re here to support you and your child every step of the way. Don’t hesitate to reach out – we’d love to chat with you!
